Getting Around Highgate
Highgate offers two tube stations, Highgate station to the north, which is on the Northern Line, and Archway station a short walk south, which is also on the Northern line. Both these stations will connect you to central London in about 20 minutes. London Overground lines run south along the area, stopping at Gospel Oak station.
Locals Tips
Highgate Village is spilling over with history, culture, A-list inhabitants, and cosy gastropubs, perfect for slipping Sundays away. One of the most unusual, but simultaneously popular, activities in Highgate is the infamous Highgate cemetery. It is one of the ‘Magnificent Seven’ cemeteries built in London in the 1800’s, it is full of ornate Victorian graves, and notorious occupants such as Karl Marx.
Despite being only 20 minutes from London, Highgate couldn’t feel more different to the city. This quaint area even offers an English country fair once a year in June, ‘The Fair in the Square’, it’s run by volunteers and includes activities such as dog shows, fairground rides, and stilt walkers.
